I hope this finds you all to be having a good year so far.
As the President gives a State of the Union address at the beginning of the year I thought I would give a brief statement about what is going on with Sue Runyon Designs. Due to the downturn in the economy, the first half of last year was slow for business, but my sales increased dramatically in the last half and have stayed strong through the beginning of this year. If sales of hand-crafted jewelry are any sort of indicator on the health of the economy I'd say things are looking up.
What does this mean for the future? It means I can expand my line of products and also get better wholesale prices and higher quality items from my suppliers. My customers get more choices of higher quality products at great prices.
I've already expanded my earring selection. Other items are currently somewhat depleted due to a busy Christmas and Valentines season. I have received a new order of luscious pearls and other items and will be adding new pieces soon.
BRIDAL JEWELRY:
Brides-to-be are starting to inquire about jewelry for summer weddings. I love working with brides to design that perfect piece for their special day!
HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF EARRINGS:
I designed some great copper and sterling silver earrings based on my popular teardrop hoop style. They are just $12 with $10 from the sale of each pair going to the Christianville Mission in Haiti for disaster relief. See the earrings and learn more here:

I'm slowly adding a new line of anklets for summer wear. Some styles are on my website now and there will be more to come. As always, I'm happy to take custom requests.
JEWELRY BUYING TIPS & TRENDS
It's time for my report on the Spring/Summer 2010 fashion color forecast. I always look forward to researching the colors. I thought about a couple of different ways to describe what the trend will be for this year:
The first way is to have you picture those pastel sweetheart Valentines candies. Now, imagine the colors to be still pale, but very much intensified--not neon, but BRIGHT. Then, sprinkle in every shade of ivory imaginable as a neutral to combine them with and there you have it.
Perhaps a more fitting description is to imagine a bouquet of flowers in every pale pastel shade in clear, crisp light. Think pale periwinkle, salmon, lilac, saffron, iris, pinks, and jonquil yellow. Now add in all those shades of ivory.
It's going to be a feminine and fun fashion season. If you don't follow the seasonal fashion trends in clothing, adding a fresh, new piece of jewelry is a great way to stay current.
WEBSITE UPDATE:
Every few months I try to look at my website with fresh eyes and see how I can improve it. I want each visitor to my site to have a pleasant experience. I've been working to increase the load speed of the main pages and will continue with other pages. I've finally learned how to compress photos better so over time even the catalog pages will load faster as new items are added.
