Sue Runyon Designs Newsletter Jan/Feb 2009

Hi Everyone,

This is my first newsletter of 2009. I hope it finds you well and happy. It's a rare, rainy day in Las Vegas. After running around doing errands and getting chilled, I'm sipping hot tea and writing to you as the rain comes down.

Last time I told you I was preparing for a total website re-design. I'm happy to say that is complete. It's now lighter, brighter, fresher and even more user friendly.

Take note of the new feature called "TODAY'S SPECIAL" on my home page. I will change this at least once a week (usually on Tuesdays) so check back often for the best deals.

I'm also happy to announce that I am starting the first of several GIVE-A-WAYS this year with a special pair of bleeding heart flower earrings. They will go to one randomly chosen newsletter subscriber on Valentines Day. If you are receiving this newsletter directly because you have already subscribed, you are already entered for this and future give-a-ways. If this newsletter has been forwarded to you by a friend, you can take a look at the earrings and sign-up for my monthly/bimonthly e-mail newsletters and to be entered in this and future give-a-ways:

JEWELRY BUYING TRENDS:

Once in a while I like to keep you updated on the upcoming fashion color forecast. The Spring/Summer 2009 forecast consists mainly of sand, surf and sea colors running into warm greys and some grey-greens. These calming summery shades are punctuated with some surprisingly bold accents of sophisticated brights like "candy apple," "chili powder" and "concord grape." You should be seeing these hues appearing in stores.

JEWELRY BUYING TIPS:

In my last issue, I told you a little about blogs. Blogs are mini-websites that are set up journal style with dated entries. Many jewelry artists are now using blogs, in addition to their own websites, because their customers want to know more about their daily life and what inspires their art. Customers want to be the first to learn about new products and sales. And they want photos: of the studio, of the process, of things that inspired the artist, of the family, of the vacation that inspired a new technique and more.

So, as promised, I have started a blog. It only has a few entries, but please take a look to get a sampling of what to expect in the future. For one entry I featured a wonderful crochet artist that I met on Etsy.com named Rachel of Rachel's Aprons and hope to feature many more talented artists in the future.

If you have a Google or blog account, you can sign up to "follow" me and get sent updates when I post a new entry on my blog. If you have a Facebook account you can also become a "fan" of my new business page:

I've been busy these past couple of months filling holiday orders and doing computer design for my website and blog. All that is done and I'm ready to CREATE. Check back often for new spring items. I have lots of gemstones and pearls that will look fabulous with the Spring/Summer colors! And remember, I do custom work as well.

Feel free to forward this on to friends who might enjoy it.

Thanks, Sue
