Kumihimo is a traditional Japenese braiding technique. I have braided this necklace using 8 strands of satin cord in mint/aqua and lime green colors in a barber pole pattern.
Light and cheerful, this piece can be worn with a white collar shirt or a pretty sundress as well as with other wardrobe essentials for a pop of pretty color.
Necklace is approximately 20 inches (50.5cm) in length and 8mm in diameter. I have hand coiled end caps from gold color wire and added a large gold plated swivel lobster claw clasp.
After gluing the end caps in place, I bend the end of the coils into the satin strand to further secure it. The smooth, round satin braid is light weight and easy to wear.
