Kumihimo is a traditional Japenese braiding technique. I have braided this necklace using 8 strands of satin cord in a deep chocolate brown with a hint of variegated southwestern color in turquoise, coral and a bit of blue and violet.
The smooth, round satin braid is light weight and comfortable. This is an easy to wear one of a kind piece that adds the perfect amount of texture and interest to your wardrobe.
Necklace is approximately 21 inches (53cm) in length and 8mm in diameter. I have hand coiled end caps from silver color wire and added a large silver plated swivel lobster claw clasp.
After gluing the end caps in place, I bend the end of the coils into the satin strand to further secure it.
