Kumihimo is a traditional Japenese braiding technique. I have braided this necklace using 8 strands of satin cord in the sophisticated color combination of deep chocolate brown with royal purple in a barber pole pattern.
The smooth, round satin braid is light weight and comfortable. This is an easy to wear one of a kind piece that adds the perfect amount of texture and interest to your wardrobe.
Necklace is choker length at 13 inches (33cm) with an additional 3 inch (7.5cm) extender chain to allow you to vary the length. The braided cord is approximately 6mm in diameter. I have hand coiled end caps from copper wire and added a copper plated lobster claw clasp.
After gluing the end caps in place, I bend the end of the coils into the satin strand to further secure it.
